A Brief Tour of the Educational Leadership Programs at St. John Fisher College

St. John Fisher College Educational Leadership programs provide a comprehensive and well grounded leadership experience for future school administrators. These programs are designed to provide high-quality and innovative standards-based educational experiences and ethical future leaders. A very special program... The programs are aligned with the state standards and classes meet on alternate weekends. Committed to Lifelong Learning

A very special program... Case study approach using real data Case Study: A Partnership At Risk Description The Golden Gloves Agency was founded by a professional boxer. Its single-minded mission is to “ save lost boys through sports and the manly arts.” On this point they will not budge. The founder is adamant. The funds to support the efforts are his to control. The small city district served by programs from this agency are after school at the Junior High level to serve some troubled boys. The program was hugely successful. The statistics show higher attendance, grades and test score for the participants when compared to matched non-participants. The Problem The parent of a female student sued for admission to this school sponsored after school program. The district’s legal council stated clearly and correctly that any school sponsored activity meant to improve student performance must be open to boys and girls. The boxer who founded the agency is clear that that is absolutely not acceptable to him. He, truly, never will change his mind. He would rather shut it down then change his focus. Repeated efforts to find parallel experiences for girls has utterly failed. QUESTIONS )Can this program be saved? Why? A very special program... The four internships and one 40 hour week are concurrent with the courses which allows the candidates to apply the course theories in real situations. Committed to Lifelong Learning

A very special program... Each candidate is provided with a laptop computer loaded with the software needed for research, data analysis, and effective presentations. To support the candidate’s in the use of this technology all classes take place in a wireless classroom environment and there is also readily available technology inservice and trouble shooting support.

One of the benefits of the cohort organization is the development of the skills and dispositions needed to establish and maintain networking relationships.
