Membership Survey Survey Prepared by Bristol Omnifacts Research Lunenburg Yacht Club February 2008

2 Research Methodology On November 22 nd, 2007 invitations to participate in the Lunenburg Yacht Club membership survey were sent to 227 club members. A total of 158 surveys were completed.

3 Summary Of Research Findings Vast majority (92%) of respondents rated LYC’s services and programs in 2007 as being either ‘better than’ (47%) or ‘about the same’ (45%) as previous years. The majority of the LYC offerings scored above 8 out of 10 in overall satisfaction. In terms of satisfaction levels with specific programs and services, members are the least satisfied with special events (BBQs / themed events), moorings and the Keelboat racing program. ( However these scored above 7 out of 10 ). Approximately one-third of respondents are very supportive of LYC acquiring additional property as part of the expansion of LYC. A little more than one-third of respondents are very supportive of LYC acquiring the Tanner property. Vast majority of respondents are very likely to continue their membership with LYC though the next three years.

LYC SERVICES & PROGRAMS – THEMED EVENTS

6 Respondents who rated their overall level of satisfaction with moorings as 7 or less were asked to provide a reason for their evaluation (n = 26). 27% of those who provided a rating of 7.6 or less said that moorings are too close and are possibly damaging yachts and 23% said that moorings are disorganized and mismanaged. LYC SERVICES & PROGRAMS – MOORINGS

7 Respondents who rated their overall level of satisfaction with the Keelboat Racing Program as 7.3 or less were asked to provide a reason for their evaluation. 29% of those mentioned that the program needs more boats / more members participating and 24% said that the handicapping system is unfair / it favours faster boats. Almost three-quarters of respondents said either ‘no’ (35%) or ‘don’t know’ (36%). Five respondents mentioned the need for adult learn to sail programs : –“ Some sort of adult intro-to-sailing program should be reinstituted, advertised and supported.
