Goals and Objectives – Four Main 1. Determine the future direction for the SOS program 2. Determine the best format of and topics for future content 3. Develop plans for assessment and evaluation at the program level and at the institution level 4. Coalesce the institutions working on SOS into a cohesive and collaborative network that is actively sharing information and content

Goals and Objectives 1. Determine the future direction for the SOS program - Prioritize technical improvements for SOS System - Inform NOAA on future investments in the SOS program

Goals and Objectives 2. Determine the best format of and topics for future content - Determine appropriate roles for NOAA, NASA, and other content providers * Prioritize investment: make vast data resources available for content creation OR create a few, fully produced “movies” or stories with scripts, reference material, context, etc. - Create guidelines for the production of SOS content - Develop an understanding of the challenges SOS institutions encounter when trying to create content or render content - Discuss cross-platform compatibility - Determine the ease, feasibility and costs associated with the creation of SOS-ready content from existing data visualization production lines.

Goals and Objectives 3. Develop plans for assessment and evaluation at the program level and at the institution level - Understand the impact SOS is having on learning earth system science in informal science education settings

Goals and Objectives 4. Coalesce the institutions working on SOS into a cohesive and collaborative network that is actively sharing information and content - Develop time line with associated responsible parties for creation of the Virtual Library and other platforms for sharing content and ideas - Provide a source of guidance and ideas for new SOS institutions
