 Most widely used tool for teaching fundamentals about business transactions  Provides a good understanding of routine accounting processes  Not realistic in today’s business world where even small companies use computers

 SUA provides two options for computerized systems:  Microsoft Dynamics - aimed at “middle-market “ companies  Peachtree - aimed at small business ▪ ~20% market share ▪ More difficult than Quickbooks for end users to learn

 Quickbooks was Introduced by Intuit in 1992  80% market share in small business accounting  Advantages:  Easy to correct errors  Students often encounter clients that use Quickbooks when they enter practice  Waren file is set up so that new items (eg: customers, vendors, inventory parts) have to be entered as students enter transactions.

 Forms  Most daily business transactions are recorded on a QuickBooks form, looks like a paper form.  Lists  Most QuickBooks forms are filled out by selecting entries from a list.  Registers  Registers contain a record of all the activity in one account.

Menu Bar: Access to all QuickBooks commands Icon Bar: Access to QuickBooks Centers and on-screen Help

  In-class exercise for Quickbooks  Student Files for SUA 
