Before the Scientific Revolution, people had accepted the writings of ancient scholars and religious leaders. E. Napp

Early in the Renaissance, scientists began to use new methods to study nature. E. Napp

Conclusions based on observation and experimentation became the basis for scientific theories. E. Napp

Facts were accepted as truth only when tests and experiments were conducted. E. Napp

The scientific method of observation, experimentation, and drawing conclusions came into common use. E. Napp

These changes in studying and understanding nature caused a scientific revolution. E. Napp

Copernicus believed that the earth revolved around the sun. Church officials did not agree. E. Napp

Galileo built a telescope and was able to support Copernicus’ heliocentric view. E. Napp
