Marks Mid-Term Final Chapter Exams Assignments / Labs Final Exam Total

Exams write exams on the day they are given. if absence anticipated make arrangements prior to the exam. any exams not written will receive a mark of zero. No rewrites of exams are allowed. final exam is comprehensive 6

Assignments and Labs must be handed in at the beginning of the period in which it is due. late assignments lose 20 percent per day late. absence is not an excuse for late assignments. 7

Absences each student is responsible for all missed notes and assignments. absences will reduce a person's marks. if an absence is uncleared it may not be used as an excuse for handing in an assignment late. 8

Lates are not tolerated. be in your desk when the tone sounds. if late knock on the door, once. Wait quietly. if late for class assignment is also late. 9

Food or Drink no food or drink will be allowed in the classroom. bottled water is acceptable. 10

Personal Electronics MP3, IPod, Cell Phones, etcetera ARE NOT TOLERATED !!! 11

Can I Do Chemistry ? We will be reviewing the necessary bits. Don’t worry; if you could do it last year, it will come back to you. Magic does not happen; past performance is a good indicator of achievement in this class. 14

Can I Do Chemistry ? Miracles are possible; You are a year older and wiser Significant improvements in work ethic will produce results TIME is the key: Be in class every day. Be prepared to spend at least 3 hours per week on assignments and review. 15

Is Chem 30 Harder ? Problem-solving Deeper thinking skills Longer problems More math More labs More connections to the real world More interesting 16

How much one actually achieves depends largely on: (1) desire, (2) faith, (3) persistent effort and (4) ability. But if you are lacking in the first three factors, your ability will not balance out the lack. So concentrate on the first three and the results will amaze you. Norman Vincent Peale 17
