Where do we go from here and who is driving the bus? Date28th October 2005 PresenterCharlotte Warr

Practical issues first… timing … Overwhelming view that 2 days is a good length Some preference expressed for having 2 full days rather than current split over three. Important to get balance right between having long enough and not having people out of the office for too long

Practical issues first… location … 2 distinct opinions/options coming out keep in Dublin for continuity move to another city Europe - Oslo/Copenhagen/Paris/Hamburg/Stockholm possibly on a rotation basis

Practical issues first……content … What was done this year good content, varied and topical eye opening! How late can agenda be finalised to ensure any burning topics are picked up?

Practical issues first… content going forward … What should be done at another conference regulatory impacts/allocation of responsibility consideration of any wordings that are being particularly challenged at the time comparison of the All risks types of covers against the traditional named peril forms debate about process changes - electronic claims handling - what can London learn from other markets things we did last year! Experts interested to hear how hull claims adjusters do their job practical explanation of how collision is investigated Charterers Liabilities How, as hull claims adjusters can we manage our clients expectations! Who is our client - broker or owner?

Practical issues first… content going forward … Latent defects personal injury privilege MCA loss of hire more foreign market presentations dangers of carrying Hazardous cargoes reserving

Practical issues first… workshops … Created in response to feedback last year Group size should be smaller needs more moderators to help venue implications - more breakout rooms needed Generally felt to be well managed Papers requested in advance - was done for Friday session - how many read them beforehand!

Practical issues first… frequency … Annually momentum chance to renew contacts lots to talk about every 2 years every 18 months (born negotiator obviously!)

Practical issues first… other topics … Bring cargo into this conference - maybe rotate annually construct more case study workshops - maybe around a major casualty review of leading cases decided on key topics in last 12 months

Practical issues first… attendance … General view is that conference is not ready for opening up to brokers/owners etc Going forward - Support for staged approach - possibly hand picked representatives to give presentations rather than open house Vital to have P & I attendance in future

Going forward - driving the bus … 24 insurer volunteers 29 expert volunteers Questionnaire responses will be collated and circulated Decisions can be made about future

So it’s good bye from her……. … And it is good bye from us!
