Presentation transcript:

 JESUS (Matthew 12:34-37) You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.  {35} The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.  {36} But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. {37} For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

 (Proverbs 11:9) With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor.  (Proverbs 16:28) A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends.  (Proverbs 26:28) A lying tongue hates those it hurts.

 (Proverbs 10:32) The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.  (Ephesians 5:4) Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

 (Proverbs 10:19) When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.  (Proverbs 13:3) He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.  (Proverbs 15:28) The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.  (Proverbs 17:27) A man of knowledge uses words with restraint...  (Proverbs 21:23) He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.

 (Proverbs 4:20, 22) My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.. for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body.  (Proverbs 10:13) Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning…  (Proverbs 14:3) … the lips of the wise protect them.  (Proverbs 20:15) Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.  (Proverbs 31:26) She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

 (Proverbs 12:6) The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.  (Proverbs 12:18) Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.  (Proverbs 15:1) A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.  (1 Peter 3:9) Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.  (Proverbs 15:4) The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.  (Proverbs 17:9) He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

The Right Words at the Right Time  (Proverbs 10:32) The lips of the righteous know what is fitting.  (Proverbs 15:23) A man finds joy in giving an apt reply-- and how good is a timely word!  (Proverbs 25:11-12) A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. {12} Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man's rebuke to a listening ear.
