Moon Vs. Earth By: Simon, Ruffin, and Peter

Moon! The moon is the 5 th largest moon in the solar system it is 9.4 billion acres.Earth! The Earth is 36,794,240,000 acres. The Earth is the 5 th biggest planet in the solar system.

Landforms/Craters Mons Huygen is the tallest mountain on the moon roughly 47 hundred meters tall. The other side of the moon looks odd because there is no solidified lava. Because of no atmosphere it is not protected from meteorites Because of the earths strong atmosphere it is protected from meteorites. Because of that there are very few craters. The Earth tallest mountain is Mount. Everest which is 88 hundred meters. The lowest point in the world is the Dead Sea in Israel and it is 400 meters below sea level.

GRAVITY!!!!! The gravitational pull functions the same as the universe it is the mass of the Earth that controls gravity on Earth. Gravity on the moon is 17% as strong as earths gravitational pull. Or 1/6.

WEATHER AND ATMOSPHERE The Earth has the most active weather because of its water. Erosion is big on Earth also. Earth has an atmosphere strong enough to protect it from meteors and asteroids. The moon has no weather so footprints stay billions of years. It has a very weak atmosphere so it is bombarded with comets and other space objects

WATER Water covers 75% of the Earth. But only 2% of that water is drinkable. There is only 25 gallons of water on the moon.

WEATHERING AND EROSION There is no weathering or erosion because there is no atmosphere and no wind on the moon The reason why there is weathering and erosion on the Earth is because there is wind and water and the plates are always moving.

Time To Rotate On Axis Earth rotates on its axis every 24 hours this is what causes day and night. Earths rotation time is not the same as its time to revolve the sun. The moon rotates on its axis every 27.3 days. Its rotation time is the same time it takes to revolve around the Earth.

Time To Revolve/Orbit The Sun It takes the moon 27 days 7 hours 43 minutes 11.6 seconds to rotate the Earth. It takes the Earth days to orbit the Sun once

Tides/Seasons High tides and low tides are affected by the moon. The way that the Earth axis is tilted affects the seasons are.

FUN FACTS!!!!!!! The Moon is 4.5 Billon years old. It takes 130 days to get to get to the Moon by car. Each year the Moon moves 1 inch away from the Earth. The Moon is 238,857 thousand miles away from the Earth The Earth is 4.6 billon years old.
