2 Home broadband and public WLAN access are growing rapidly –Number of broadband households is expected to increase from 170M to 310M during 2005–2008. Thus, there are roughly 0.5B people living within reach of broadband today. –Number of public Wi-Fi hotspots are forecasted to grow from 125k to 250k by 2008 –Operators’ bundled offerings i.e. Triple and Quadruple play are emerging Also home networking solutions market is booming –Home networks are driven by shared broadband connection –Home data networks to increase from 44M to 121M units by 2008 –Over 2/3 of home networks are Wi-Fi enabled by 2008 Convergence is reality today Sources: Ovum, IDC

4 Broadband = New service packages Wireless broadband = Optimized service & device packages Broadband service providers are eagerly looking for new ways to drive revenue growth and customer retention. BB enables marketing of different kinds of service & product bundles (e.g. VoIP, IPTV/VoD, radio, wireless routers, media adapters, home automation & security) Wireless broadband offers possibility for further enhanced services to complement fixed broadband Demand for new product category; –WiFi optimized devices with mobile broadband optimized services …which do not try to compete with eg. smartphones
