Hair Dryer Hovercraft Team 2 Patrick Aldred Ravi Arimilli Charles Hudson Brittnee Robinson Aileen Zhao

Team 2 Ideas Considered Quiz Bowl Buzzer System Rejected due to lack of time Sun Oven Yeah, right Hair Dryer Hovercraft Only other viable idea that we could think of

Team 2 Hovercraft In Action

Team 2 Materials 4 Hair Dryer Motors 2 Boxes (attached with duct tape) Duct Tape & Masking Tape Foam Core Surge Protector Trash Bag

Team 2 How It Works The hair dryer motors blow air into the box, creating a high pressure The air is forced to exit into the trash bag The small holes on the bottom of the bag keep the air in the bag at a high pressure The air escapes to a much lower pressure outside the bag, creating a strong lift force from the air pushing off the ground

Team 2 PowerFeatures 60 Amperes needed 6,400 Watts supplied Easy to move around Can load a maximum weight of 10 lb

Team 2 Design Details Each face of the attached boxes only has to support 1 hair dryer motor, minimizing the stress on each face The motors are offset so that they will not blow into each other and work against each other

Team 2 Attempted Improvement Remove the heating coil The hot air might cause some problems and all we need is air Failed and caused an electrical shock of some team members, but luckily, these team members survived and were unharmed
