Domestic Violence Awareness Stitch For A Cause

What is Domestic Violence Domestic violence is the establishment of control and fear in a relationship thorough violence and other forms of abuse. Some one does NOT need to be hit to be a victim of abuse. Verbal and emotional abuse can be as terrifying as a physical abuse.

A women is beaten every 15 seconds.

Domestic Violence Facts Every 1 in 3 women will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime. 63% of men 11 to 20 years old in jail of homicide have killed their mother’s abuser. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury of women between ages 15 and 44 in the USA. That is more than car accidents, muggings and other assaults combined. Domestic violence affects women of all cultures, races, occupations, income levels, and ages. More than half the clients served by the Center for Women and Families are between the ages of 18-22, which is why the Center has many education programs for middle and high school students. Most women who come to the Center bring at least two children with them.

Help The Cause Stitch For A Cause is having a bake sale on Wednesday, November 14th from 12-1:30 pm. Money raised will go towards purchasing gift cards for the Center’s holiday program. It allows women to shop for their children SAFELY online, rather than going out. Stitch for a Cause is also donating gift bags with hand knit scarves and small toiletries.
