The Great Gatsby Practice Essay Write a one paragraph literary analysis relating the theme of Honesty to one or more characters in the novel, The Great Gatsby. Use two different types of concrete details (Quote/Paraphrase/Summary) and use two different methods of internal citations.

INTERNAL CITATIONS: “Type your quote here” (Fitzgerald 127). On page 127 of Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby Nick states “Type your quote here.”

Concrete Details: Quote: “In consequence, I’m inclined to reserve all judgements, a habit that has opened up many curious natures to me and also made me the victim of not a few veteran bores” (Fitzgerald 1). Paraphrase: As a result Nick reserves judgement of others and as a result he has been in many unique situations and has been accused of running with the wrong crowd (Fitzgerald 1). Summary: On page 1 of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Nick admits that he is non judgmental.

You don’t have to follow the format of the model exactly… You MUST have a topic sentence, at least 2 concrete details (quotes/paraphrases/summaries), 4 commentaries (opinions stated as a fact) and a concluding sentence. However, it can be in any order you would like.*
