How do we analyze a contour map?

Contour Lines Rules 1) All points along any given contour line represent the same elevation 2) Contour lines never touch or cross 3) The spacing between contour lines help us determine the slope. 4) When contour lines cross a stream or a river they are V shaped. 19) Index Contour: A darkened contour line used to represent a specific elevation. It help us determine elevation at certain points more quickly. Index contour are evenly spaced for example: every 100 feet or every 200 feet.
