The Water Cycle Song COOL Water Cycle Song

The Water Cycle Evaporation Condensation Precipitation Runoff The slow changing of a liquid into a gas The changing of a gas into a liquid Any form of water particles that falls from the atmosphere and reach the ground Precipitation that flows across the land’s surface to fall into rivers and streams

Solar Still Materials Plastic Tub Measuring Cup Small Plastic Cup 1 Marble Plastic Wrap Masking Tape Soil & Sand Mixture Water

Directions Add 4 cups of Soil/Sand Mixture to the Plastic Tub Position the Plastic Cup in the center of the Tub. Add approximately 6 ounces of Water to the Soil/Sand Mixture. Seal the Tub with Plastic Wrap and Tape. Place the Marble on the Plastic Wrap directly above the Plastic Cup. Place the Solar Still under the lamp or in direct sun light.

Recording Data In your Science Lab Notebook Illustrate the Solar Still with labels. Explain how it was created. Record exact measurements for the… Soil/Sand Mixture Water poured into the Soil/Sand Mixture Water collected after sitting

Reflection Questions Where did the water in the cup come from? How much water collected in the cup? What would happen if the Solar Still was placed in the shade? Do you think a Solar Still would work in the middle of a desert? Rainforest? Where would the water that evaporates from the soil go if it was not trapped in the Solar Still? What does each piece of the Solar Still represent in the Water Cycle?
