Preliminaries  Pre-class (10 classwork points): on your workstations, do the following:  Launch Internet Explorer and browse to  Obtain your typing speed.  Practice placing your hands on the homerow without looking at the keyboard.  Click on the “Learn Now” button within the “Free Typing Lessons” pane.  Select lesson #4 and read the instructions which follow  “a” and “;” keys  Left and right pinky fingers

Review: Working with Existing Word Documents  Object browser enables quick viewing of  Graphics  Whole pages

Objectives  Proper hand placement on the home row.  Touch-type using the “a” and “;” keys at 20 w.p.m.  Be able to copy and paste text from Word documents and web pages.

Focus Lesson: Editing Word Documents  Launch Word.  Select the text to be copied by highlighting it.  Click the Edit menu then the Copy command.  Click on the new location where you want the text to be copied.  Click the Edit menu and then the Paste command.

Focus Lesson: Editing Word Documents (30 classwork pts.)  Browse out to your favorite website. It must be one appropriate for class. The page must also contain at least one 5-sentence paragraph.  Copy this paragraph and paste it into a Word document. I will inspect it.  Read and re-read the paragraph until you have solid understanding of what the main idea is.

Focus Lesson: Editing Word Documents con’t. (30 classwork pts.)  Type one more 5-sentence paragraph of your own. It must logically follow from the main idea expressed in the first paragraph you just pasted from the web page.
