Sophomore and Junior Advisory November 5, 2014 COMMUNITY SERVICE

Community Service Year This is a community service year for all sophomores and juniors. Students are to complete four hours of community service each semester for a total of eight hours of community service for the school year.

Why is this important? Our community is incredibly generous. At one time or another, all of us have been touched by a non-profit community oriented group. It’s important for students to learn to give back and participate in the gift of giving. This is a senior project requirement!

What are the guidelines? The community service guidelines may be found on the advisory web page. You can download this document and view it from any computer connected to the internet. If you need a copy, you can get one from the front office. Please review the guidelines now.

What happens if I don’t complete my hours? You will not earn advisory credit for the semester. You will earn an “NC” (no credit) on your semester report card which calculates as an “F” on your GPA. You will have to complete this at some point because it’s part of your senior project.

Questions? Your advisory teacher is a wealth of knowledge! Be sure to ask your teacher if you have a question. You are always welcome to ask Mrs. Walker or Mr. Triplett any questions as well. Have fun and make your community service hours meaningful!
