Class Overview Clarify any questions or concerns from yesterday. Give students notes on key vocabulary. Review vocabulary. Complete hole punching important class handouts.

Artifacts- an object formed by humans. historical theory- an idea to determine the background and causes to an issue. Paleo-Indians- the term given to the first people to who entered and lived in America. Paleo means old.

Migration- the physical movement of humans from one location to another. hunter-gatherers- the earliest society that would were scavengers (people who would seek out dead animals) for food. Environments- all living and non-living things on Earth. For example- the desert

Domestication- is the process of taming animals or plants. animalsplants Societies- group whose members have developed organized patterns of relationships through interaction with one another- an example could be- football team, cheerleading, this class.

Mound Builder Period- member of a prehistoric American Indian from the Great Lakes down the Mississippi River Kayaks- an Eskimo canoe made of a frame covered with animal skins

totem poles-a pole or pillar carved and painted Wigwams- a hut of the American Indians of the Great Lakes

Culture-the pattern for learning and giving that knowledge to the next generations Longhouses-a long dwelling of some North American Indians (as the Iroquois) Tipi- or Tepee a cone tent usually made from animal skins
