Internship Objectives Students gain experience in their potential careers Students develop projects for job application portfolios Students learn job application skills Students enhance editing, writing, technical skills Employers supervise and mentor interns Employers evaluate students as potential employees Faculty learns what skills employers look for in applicants Sharpen practical communication skills: -Editing -Writing Become more technical -vocabulary of company/industry - learn software/computers company uses Develop interpersonal skills -learn how to behave on the job Assess professional goals - perfect job? -not for me? Learn business side of profession - e.g., project mgt aligns tasks and people

Student Requirements* Junior or Senior standing (60 hours) Overall GPA: 2.5 English GPA: 3.0 At least one skills English course completed (3303, etc.) Approval of Professor in Concentration Rev. learning objectives, goals, project plans Approval of Liberal Arts Adviser (verify requirements) Approval of Internship Director Student evaluation of internship experience Enrollment in English 3312 Internship in English Studies *Note: GPA or other requirements may be modified if student has other qualifications, e.g.: Additional English skills courses Additional software /web design skills Relevant employment experience Professional organization membership Other?
