Guide to Safe Scouting Must have been reviewed by at least one leader on any event! Unit should purchase a new guide each year Updated quarterly.

Weather! Follow the Scout Motto Follow the Scout Motto

You are in charge! Your unit is planning your annual ski trip up to Vermont. There has been plenty of snow “up north” and temperatures have been quite cold. You have lots of young scouts joining you this year. What things do you need to keep in mind as you prepare for the trip which is 4 months away. 1

You are in charge! The older boys have been dying to do some serious backpacking in Maine and are anxious to climb Mt. Baxter and hike along the “knife’s edge”. You have some time since it’s October and the trip would likely be next August. 2

You are in charge! The younger boys need a good old fashioned campout. To concentrate on advancement, cook over an open fire. Have a campfire at night and tell stories and maybe a skit or two. You need to decide when to plan it and where to go. 3

You are in charge! You and another volunteer have agreed to organize this years service project which is the community food drive “scouting for food” It’s fairly close at hand and you don’t have too much time. Weather has been fairly rainy although there have been a few nice weekends. 4
