PowerPoint What it is and What it isn’t

What it is….  Presentation tool –PowerPoint is only a tool to help someone give a presentation or present information to a group of people  Slide Show –PowerPoint is a just like a slide show. The slide show consists of different slides, each one containing One thought and the important information about that one thought

What PowerPoint isn’t…  Its not your whole speech –PowerPoint should never contain all of your information. –You are the presenter and you should tell us about your subject. –PowerPoint should only help your audience

This is a bad example…  Dog Sledding –You need a team of dogs for dog sledding. There should be at least 6 dogs in a team and one lead dog that you as a dog sledder control –You attach the dogs to a double-rail sled. This sled is where the dog sledder stands and holds all of the gear needed for the journey. The sled has two rails on the bottom of the sled that allow it to move on the ice and snow. –Dog sleds have reigns that the dog sledder uses to control and guide the dog. Just like horse reigns the sledder pulls the reigns in the direction they want the sled to go. –You must be prepared with the correct amount of clothing and gear for a dog sledding trip. You need a large parka, snow boots, a hat and some sort of goggles or face mask to protect you from the snow and the wind. Oh, and don’t forget the pants.

This is a good example…  Dog Sledding –Team of dogs –Double-Rail sled –Reigns –Clothing and Gear Notice that the bullets are only 2 to 3 to 4 words in length

What they should always contain..  Intro slide  At least 3 bullets per slide  Conclusion slide  Images and graphics
