CHEYENNE ZAMBRANO How Can I Make A Difference

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” – Gandhi

Over the summer of 2006 I traveled to Kenya, Africa with a humanitarian group by the name of, Beacon Humanitarian International.

There we supplied children with school kits and uniforms so they would be allowed to attend school.

We were able to get Challenger Schools to donate their old uniforms to the children.

The Trailside Elementary School in Park City, Utah also donated t-shirts and sweat shirts for the children.

We had a new school house built for them.

We had a medical center built in the region.

We built wells for the villagers to get clean, drinkable water from.

Once I arrived home I decided to start a club at my high school.

There were about 23 students that attended regularly.

The objective of the club was to be able to travel to Africa and build a resource center for the villagers to use.

This resource center was to house reading materials, such as reference books, dictionaries, kids books, etc.

In addition to the books it would house computers.

Bringing this kind of information and technology to the region would make a large difference in their lives.

They would be able to further their education.

Have information readily available to them.

Create more opportunities for future generations.

What can you do to make a difference?
