Dismissal Parent Pick Up Your child will meet you out front of the school by the flagpole. An EA will watch over them at that time. If you are running late, your child will be in the office. Hint- it is often quicker to park your car and walk up to the front of the school. Bus Riders Bus riders will have a special color coded card to assure they get onto the right bus. Please leave them on the backpack.

If there is a change in your child’s going home routine… Need the arrangements in writing (note and/or ). –Emergencies – over the phone (call front office) Bus passes – fill out form online and place in Take Home Folder to turn in to me at school.

School Supplies We share many supplies, but some are kept separate to help encourage responsibility and accountability. Bring to school daily: Daily Folder Backpack Coat, jacket, or sweater

Blake Label your … Jacket and backpack

Appropriate Clothing Dress comfortably. PE days – pants, shorts, or tights. Non-skid, closed toe shoes for the gym. No hats in the classroom please. A coat for our unpredictable weather.

Library We have library once per week. Kids will be allowed to check out 1 book every week (check out won’t start for the next month or so). Kids may return their book anytime during the week and must return it in order to check out a new book. It is a great place to volunteer!!

Birthday Celebrations In keeping with our district nutrition policy, we will not be having birthday treats in the classroom. We will celebrate in other non- food ways in the classroom. Summer birthdays can be celebrated at anytime during the year, please talk with me to set this up. Please do not pass out party invitations in class, as this can cause hurt feelings to those children not invited.

Snack Please send in a snack each day There are nut allergies present school wide and in this class – please be mindful of this when packing appropriate snacks This will happen during “snack and story time”, at the carpet, so please choose easy clean up snacks. For healthy, nut-free ideas, visit

Creekside’s Culture of Kindness Be Kind Like Josh This is a school-wide program recognizing students for being kind whether it be towards a friend, adult, or our school. Find out more about the Be Kind Like Josh program at We Are Bucket Fillers! Part of being in our classroom is “filling each other’s buckets”. We as a class will recognize good choices and kind actions by filling our class bucket with “warm and fuzzy feelings”! Kelso’s Choices A few times a month, the school counselor will come to teach our class about problem solving and getting along with friends.

Volunteering I welcome volunteers with much appreciation! Parent volunteers working with students will begin after the first few weeks of school, as I want to foster independence and an “I Can Do It” attitude first. –Parent volunteers may also sign up to volunteer in the library! –More “job specific” information/sign up opportunities can be found in your paperwork today, and more opportunities will be presented on a need basis.

No regular homework is given. Ask that you read (or child reads) 15 minutes a night and practice sight words (more information will be provided at curriculum night). Please set aside a “book box/tub” for our small readers! There are occasionally special projects that will be sent home that usually require adult assistance.

Curriculum Night September 17 th 6:30-7:30 This is when we will go into depth about our Kindergarten Curriculum: Phonics based reading program (Fountas & Pinnell) Everyday Math Lucy Caulkins Writing (full adoption this year) Social studies (My World), Health (My Body, Communities), and Science (plants, solids and liquids, 5 senses, and rocks&minerals)
