GENDERWISE Background: Policy Context EU gender equality framework Shift from sex-based discrimination focus to more « gender » focus relations between men and women

GENDERWISE Overall Aim Overall aim is to support the development of integrated local/regional action plans for gender equality – with specific focus on the role of men as change agents

GENDERWISE Objectives To establish local cross-sectoral local action groups which will: –Undertake local/regional mapping to identify what measures (compatible with contextual factors) can/need to be taken to develop + promote the role of men as change agents –Undertake local dissemination/consultation –Make links with national agencies –Produce action plan

GENDERWISE Objectives (cont.) To undertake three transnational peer review and development workshops: –Sharing of domestic responsibilities –Gender equality in the workplace –Socialisation and education To capitalise existing practice at local, national and EU levels and create an online policy and practice « market place » (Agora-praxis) To develop a transferable framework/methodology for developing LAPs and RAPs

These reports would have the following elements: An Account of the Transnational Exchange Case Studies (internal and external to partnership) Identify obstacles + challnges to men’s full participatiion in efforts to achieve gender equality 2.
