Mrs. Andrea Daniel I have three children 16 th year teaching I have my BS from Eastern Michigan I recently finished my Master Degree at Madonna University I have an Early Childhood Endorsement Life long learner – Always trying to improve High expectations I am energetic but firm – like to have open communication both with my students and parents.

Daily Life Routine -Read the board for morning messages and check the schedule for daily events Responsibility - Planner and home folder travel to and from school daily -Know procedures -Follow classroom expectations Have work completed on time Respect -Treat others how you would want to be treated -Show respect to gain respect

At Home Expectations - Look at home folder - Look at assignment notebook - Contact me with any questions, concerns, comments, anything at all. - Have your child read nightly and fill out reading log minutes. - Study math facts, spelling words, and any other concepts weekly. - Check Grade Link every week and print out a report – sign it and return in Friday Folder

Snack Daily snack Healthy choices allowed Children may bring in a water bottle (do not freeze or put ice in it). Only water. No chips, chocolate, gummies, candy, etc… Ideas – celery, apple, banana, carrot sticks, pretzels, graham crackers, cheese and crackers, granola bars without nuts, dried fruit, rice cakes…….. NO NUT ROOM – we have children with peanut and tree nut allergies.

Homework Homework is practice with new concepts or projects. Most homework will be counted as 3 points. Work completed on time– tried your best = 3 points. If it comes in the next day 2 points, third day is 1 point and if it doesn’t come in by the fourth day it will be a zero. - Only one missed assignment note will go home.

IDR – INDIVIDUAL DAILY READING This is a time in class that is spent on uninterrupted reading time. Children will learn how to use specific reading strategies to help further their comprehension abilities. Children will learn how to choose “just right books”. I will conference with children and assign letter dates to assess progress. An IDR book (chapter) should be a chapter book this book can go to and from school daily. Reading Bags

Book Talks Summary 1-2 minute oral presentation “Hook” – acting, art connection, reporting, singing, props, etc. Outcomes: Introduce a wide variety of text Gain confidence in public speaking

Assignment Books Daily homework assignments Upcoming tests, projects, special days Responsibility – is the students In the middle of the folder will be a schedule for specials.

128/Home Folders Every night Homework assignments Letters to parents Important information Not all papers stay home – some come back to school Two sides: Keep = keep at home Return = the paper needs to come back Please empty keep side so students do not get confused.

Friday Folders Most Friday’s Sign and return all tests Sign and date the insert so I know you saw the papers. The rest of the graded assignments should be taken out and can stay at home. Have signed and printed progress report weekly

Language Arts = LA Grammar/Reading notebooks – we work on grammar concepts and reading strategies Spelling notebooks Writing notebooks – learn to express one’s thoughts and personal experiences in writing Spelling words go home the Friday before, are written in assignment notebooks, tests are on the following Friday, are available on spellingcity.com Reading and grammar assessments are on Friday

Math We do a lesson together in our math notebooks /check for understanding Workbook page goes home for reinforcement Math test after we finish a chapter Practice basic math facts to use the online math book to practice Math will be taught by Mrs. Perreca

Technology Technology has to be off and placed in basket everyday if it comes to school. It cannot be kept in backpacks or locker area.
