Presentation transcript:

 Explain on this slide what the job of a lighting designer is.

 Explain the background to the performance.  What were your first ideas?  Where did you find these ideas?  What did the group tell you they wanted?  Use pictures to help explain what you have to do. This could take more than one slide.

 Explain the lanterns that you have and what job they do.  Explain what kind of lighting deck you will be using.  Make a scale drawing of the performance space and the lighting rig.  Plan where to put each lantern in the rig.  Plan which channel each lantern will be operated from.  Explain what type of desk you have and how it works.  You do not have to rig the lights but you need to tell someone where you want the lights. This could take more than one slide.

 You need to have 4 different colour combinations.  You need to have at least 8 different cues.  Make a drawing of the patch board.  Write a plot sheet and which lanterns go on which channels and which patch.  Write the cues on the cue sheet.  Write the cues on the script, in order of performance. This could take more than one slide.

 For each cue, make sure that you know the intensity of each fader.  Make sure that the sheet is in your folder.  How long does each lighting cue last? Does it crossfade with another cue? Are there any blackouts? How long should they last?  Explain, for each cue, what colours have you chosen and why. This could take more than one slide.

 Add images pictures to this template to make your presentation interesting.  This template should help you plan your presentation but you also need a folder to show the process of your designs. Remember to show this to the teacher/examiner.  Make sure that your performers feel comfortable and confident with the lighting effects you have created.
