9/16/ Yesterday Nina Davuluri was voted the nation’s first Miss America of Indian descent. The 24- year old Syracuse native plans to be a doctor. 2.One of the issues which has most polarized our country is the issue of the rights of gun owners. In April, supporters of stricter gun regulations were disappointed when the Senate defeated several measures to create more regulations on the purchase of guns. 3.President Obama will speak tonight on the 5 year anniversary of the 2008 financial crisis. Five years ago, many believed the US was on the verge of a second great depression. Many financial powerhouses like Lehman Brothers shut down and were later bailed out by the federal government. Is it just for the federal government to bail out large corporations but not private citizens?

9/18/ John Andrew Welden was indicted yesterday because last year after his pregnant girlfriend got an infection and needed an anti-biotic, he tricked her by creating a fake label for the bottle and instead gave her the abortion pill causing her to miscarry. If he would have gone to trial, he would have faced life in prison if he would have been convicted. Because he accepted a plea deal, he is facing up to thirteen years in prison. 2.She scored a legal victory in an anti-discrimination suit because she was fired by a Hollister store for wearing her hijab.
