Reed Lab 100 Renovation IET 330 DR. NI WANG 5/4/15

Problem Statement The school received a fund of $400,000 for funding for a new engineering lab. This will provide the newest technology experiences and help prepare students for work in industry. The class was tasked with creating budgeted engineering design process.

Solution Approach Created 4 groups Design Construction Electronics Engineering Management Each group was assigned a task to complete a different aspect of the engineering design process

Design group Create machines for the new lab. Each individual was responsible to create a final part. The group was given the dimensions to remake the parts. One group member was responsible for making a simulation video. All parts were gathered when creating the video. Solid works will be used to create the drawings.

Responsibility Chart (Design) Measurements of equipment: Members are responsible for their respective assignments Scale: The team will use the scale chosen by the Construction Management Team Method of producing models: All members will consult to the weigh the options of various methods of producing models the outcome of this decision determines the method of designing the models Model design: Each member will produce their assigned model.

Construction Group Measure the lab and classrooms Determine new equipment and dimensions to be placed in lab Render lab and classrooms in AutoCAD Create at least 2 layouts for equipment and classrooms Determine necessary signage Determine needed materials for redesigns Create economic analysis of redesigns

Responsibility Chart (Construction) TaskGroup Member Measure the lab and classrooms Adnan, Ronald, Christopher Determine new equipment and dimensions to be placed in lab Cyra Render lab and classrooms in AutoCADEthan, Mark Create at least 2 layouts for equipment and classrooms Ethan, Mark Determine necessary signageBrandon Determine needed materials for redesignsAll Create economic analysis of redesignsCyra, additional help

Electronics Group A full schematic diagram is in the making to provide the reader full understanding of how this LED board functions. Calculations using Ohm’s Law will determine the value of resistors, wire, LED’s to be used. Soldering will take the longest to complete We plan to use heat shrink wrap for professional appearance Design of the LED sign will be constructed using Solid Works for appropriate and exact fittings The Sign will be cut out using the XYZ machine!

Engineering Management The engineering management group served as an overview of the project. Responsibility tables were created to help keep track of involvement. A participation or evaluation table was made to track each member was involved. The group worked as a database as all information was collected and kept. The group was responsible for presenting the project and writing the final report. Deadlines were also assigned by this group to each of the other three groups.

Conclusion This project was made to complete a new lab for the engineering students, each group supplied efforts in creating the new lab. Groups were made to help spread the work load of the project. The Construction group was made responsible for the floor layout. The design group’s task was to create the final drawings of the machines. The electronics group developed a sign for the building. The Engineering Management group gathered all the information and created a report. This project’s goal is to provide students with a better resource for hands on education to further each one’s knowledge and prepare them for industry work.
