BIRD BEAK LAB Objective: To learn about the advantages and disadvantages of beak variation, by simulating birds with different types of beaks competing for various foods.

BIRD BEAK LAB Beaks: Food: Toothpick Tweezers Spoon Clothespin Binder Clip Food: Raisins Beans Rice Macaroni Procedure: Use each utensil to gather as many pieces of food as possible in 20 seconds. Food must be transferred from the plate to your stomach cup one piece at a time.

Conclusion Questions Summarize, in one paragraph, the results of your experiment. Which beak worked best for each food type? Which beak type would be able to eat the largest variety of food sources? Explain how that might affect the survival of the bird that had that beak type. Which beak type would be least adaptable for eating the various food sources? Explain how that might affect the survival of the bird that had that beak type.
