For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. (Galatians 5:17)

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. (John 16:7)

…He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith… (Ephesians 16-17a)

Walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:17)

This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

They are forced to trust God for everything. There is no alternative—and their genuine and active faith results in miracles. We have so much that we don’t need to trust the Spirit and the Spirit is less able to pour God’s grace into our lives.
