 The end of World War 1 -- Great Depression. (mainly the 1920s-1930s)  Soldiers came back expecting equality  People had money to spend on entertainment  Great Depression caused Harlem Renaissance to stop because there was no more entertainment money.  Huge amount of jobs in the northern states= mass migration of African-American communities to New York and Chicago  Location: mostly in Harlem, New York
