Why do people go to university? To study a subject they are interested in Transfer to a course that they are more suited to Supplement existing qualifications Advance their career Obtain desired career path Engage with foreign culture

Name:Elena Age:19 Nationality:Lithuanian Previous education:Technical College Studying:Chemistry Elena is very excited to experience a new culture. She plans to join lots of societies in order to make new friends and improve her English.

Name:Johnathan Age:17 Nationality:Scottish Previous education:High School (S6) Studying:Business Management Johnathan has been part of an entrepreneurship society at school and dreams of owning his own business. He hopes that his degree choice will give him a chance to meet other innovative students.

Name:Dominic Age:20 Nationality:British Previous education:HND Social Studies Studying:History Dominic didn’t do as well as he expected in school due to family circumstances. He went to college to top up his qualifications to follow his dream to be a historian.

Challenges ( 15 minutes) We will split you into groups Each group will be given a student As a group you will explore the particular challenges facing your student

Solutions (25 minutes) Pick one particular challenge facing your persona Brainstorm how technology can aid in addressing that challenge We will then discuss the solutions

Discussion (10 mins) Different uses of technology How many challenges can be solved? What role does community play in transitions? What will you take away from this workshop ?
