What is Audacity? Audacity is a program which allows you to quickly and easily create audio files in various formats.

1.Click the round, red button to record. 2.Click the square, yellow button to stop 3.Click the green arrow to listen to your recording. 4.Click Edit > Undo Record to erase and start over. To Create an Audio File

Export! When your recording is ready, click File > Export as MP3.

Lame? The first time you try to “Export as MP3” the computer looks for a program called, lame. ► When the message asking for lame appears on the screen, click Ok, then go to  Group Shared Drive > Rhodes > ► Click on lame, then click Open. Another window opens. Just click OK. ► Audacity only needs to find the lame program once, and will not ask for it again.

Finish ► You may save the file in Audacity, but you don’t have to. ► The MP3 file in your documents has a music note icon. ► Ways to use the MP3 file  Include in presentations (PowerPoint, Prezi, Capzies, Glogster, etc.)  Attach it to an avatar, a photograph, or other picture  Record an interview (primary source).
