Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Today’s PBIS Topic: Classroom Behavior Ready Respectful Responsible

PBIS on Classroom Behavior Ready Arrive on Time with Materials. Respectful Allow others the opportunity to focus and respect the teacher for their hard work preparing the lesson. Responsible Treat every assignment as if it is the most crucial grade to determine your success in the course.

A View of Last Years Discipline. Classroom Disruptions by Grade: Discipline Data: Questions to Ponder: 1.Why are 9 th & 10 th graders referred more than older students? 2.What do older students do in class to avoid getting into trouble?

What Can We Learn From This? - Classroom Discipline Referrals account for the bulk of referrals at BCHS -Freshmen and Sophomores are referred much more often than older students.

Is it Maturity?

Do the few, younger students, who receive most of the referrals disappear before 11 th Grade? Alternative School Placement Dropped for Lack of Attendance Drop out for lack of Academic Success

The Answer is Yes to both: Maturity and the disappearance of those with the most referrals. -Maturity is a choice not an age requirement -You can learn to become an engaged and successful learner.

How to Become Successful In School Students who pass their classes typically do not get into trouble. Those who fail their classes tend to be the ones who get into trouble. Thus, the best preventative measure to avoid trouble: Pass your classes. All of them!

How to pass your classes: 1.Be Prepared for class (bring materials) 2.Complete every assignment 3.Focus in class. 4.Complete Homework 5.Ask the teacher for help when lost/confused
