 Colorado University Antecedents of Excellence

 Students walk ( NOT RUN) to exit the classroom.  This applies to running into the classroom as well.  Scholars will ALWAYS walk to and from their destination.  Classroom behavior rules are in effect in the assemblies

Objective  To learn what it takes to be a Colorado Buffalo at Rhodes Elementary School through the Antecedents of Excellence.

What are Antecedents of Excellence?  The Colorado Buffalo Antecedents of Excellence are rules to follow that will make you a successful student.  The Colorado Buffalo Antecedents of Excellence were written to help students thrive!

Antecedents of Excellence  When the recess bell rings, class will promptly give a University/class chant and return to the classroom.  As soon as the recess bell rings you are expected to be in our class line.  When Mr. McCleskey comes to the line, all students should be acting like Scholars, ready to say our University chant with confidence and pride in your voices.  Once the chant has been said students will quietly walk to the classroom.

Antecedents of Excellence  Know the names of classroom visitors and have students stand and greet the visitor by name (if possible).  This Antecedent will apply to everyone.  We will all greet our guest/guests by saying, “Welcome to University of Colorado, Mr. or Mrs._______.”

Antecedents of Excellence  Students should respond with “Yes” and not “Yeah.”  Sign of respect for others  Sign of respect for Professors on campus  Sign of respect for other Champions  Students will stand and deliver when commenting, asking, or responding to questions in complete sentences.

Antecedents of Excellence  Transition times:  Students will listen carefully to directions and be prepared for next activity  This will tell students we are moving from one activity to another.

Antecedents of Excellence  Backpacks should be on the hooks or PHYSICALLY touching the wall outside of the classroom.  Backpack racks should look neat and organized during the school day and should be completely empty and clean when school dismisses. Students should begin to clean up 15 minutes prior to dismissal.

Antecedents of Excellence  Students will enter the Monday Morning Assemblies walking in a straight, quiet line.  This applies to and from class as well.  Students show school spirit by wearing their university shirt, singing the spirit songs, and clapping and dancing to the music in an appropriate manner.

Walking into Honor Hall  Students should enter Honor Hall in a neat, orderly, straight line.  Teacher will prompt students to sit in organized rows.  Students will:  Sing nice and respectfully.  Keep bodies calm while singing.

Pledge of Allegiance and Patriotic Song  When prompted students will silently stand and say the Pledge.  After Pledge, students stay standing quietly, while waiting for Patriotic Song to start.  During Patriotic Song students will sing and keep their bodies still.

Student Etiquette  Students are ACTIVELY listening  Stand and Deliver  Give appropriate applause when necessary
