Introduction Have you ever wondered what it’s like to have a fish? Well, with this book you will find out what it is like. You will learn about beta fish, suckerfish, glow fish, coy fish, angelfish, and goldfish. Also, you’ll learn about the type of items, food and tanks you need to have for your fish. Overall, you will learn to be a good fish owner.

What is a Fish? A fish is an animal that lives and breathes in water. You can have them as pets too. They also can be colorful. No matter how the fish look, they are great pets.

Chapter 1 - Picking Out a Fish I was nine years old when I was going to pick out a suckerfish and a beta fish. My family and I were driving to the pet store. When we got to the fish part of the store I was looking at all the beta fish. I saw a blue and red one and I decided I wanted to purchase that one. While my parents were getting it out of its tank, I went over to the suckerfish tank in the pet store and I choose a small suckerfish. After, we went to the cash register to pay for both fish. After that, I had two fish for pets.

Chapter 2 - Types of Fish There’s many types of fish, such as coy fish, beta fish, gold fish, etc. Each fish is for a different person. Fish can be different colors, sizes, shapes and personalities. Some fish live longer than others and some need different objects in their tanks.

Suckerfish Suckerfish are a low maintenance type of fish. All you need is another fish in the tank that gives algae for the suckerfish to eat. The tank size for a small sucker fish is a small tank. The tank size for a medium sized suckerfish is a medium sized tank. The size for a large suckerfish is a large size tank.

Beta Fish Beta fish are a low maintenance type of fish. You only need to feed them and change the water in the tank. Beta fish usually live in a medium sized environment. Beta fish like objects in their tank to sleep in. You have to get beta fish food. The beta fish has to be fed 6-8 pellets twice a day. If you are a busy person that wants a low maintenance type of fish then a beta fish is perfect for you.

Coy Fish Coy fish are a Japanese type of fish. Coy fish are a calm and compatible type of fish. Coy fish have specific diets. High protein foods in the summer and easy to digest foods in the spring and fall. You will need a larger than medium sized tank, because coy fish can get big.

Glow Fish Glow fish are a high maintenance type of fish. You have to change the tank’s water every 2-4 weeks, buy lots of objects for the tank, and have a diet for the glow fish. You also have to feed your glow fish more than the average amount for a fish. You have to make sure the food is perfect, not spoiled and into smaller pieces. The tank size should be big enough to house one glow fish and all the items you need for that fish.

Angel Fish Angel fish are very pretty; they are considered one of the prettiest types of fish. You cannot only find them in the ocean, you can find them in your pet store. Angel fish are a pretty low maintenance type of fish. You don’t have to do anything special except, change the water in the tank and feed the fish. However, you have to buy objects for the fish and most require a medium- sized tank.

Gold Fish Gold fish are the lowest maintenance type of fish although, they die sooner than other types of fish. Gold fish can range in color but, mostly are gold color. You need a medium sized tank for the goldfish. The food is flakey and usually brown or yellow. Do not feed gold fish too much or they might get sick and possibly die.

Chapter 3 - What Type of Fish to Get As you have read in the previous chapters, there are many types of fish to get. Sometimes people choose a fish on what the fish looks like, how much it takes to care for the fish or if the fish is interesting.

Fish Descriptions Beta fish: easy to take care of and colorful. Gold fish: easy to take care of and playful. Suckerfish: easy to take care of and some times can look cool. Coy fish: easy to take care of. Angel fish: colorful and sometimes can have designs on it. Glow fish: colorful.

Chapter 4 - Food Fish eat certain foods and some eat more than others. You don’t want a gold fish eating coy fish food and you certainly don’t want to underfeed or overfeed your fish. If you don’t give the right fish food to your fish or don’t provide your fish enough food your fish could get sick.

Fish Food Beta fish: beta fish food. Suckerfish: algae. Coy fish: peas, lettuce, and watermelon. Angel fish: flakes, pellets, shrimp and bloodworms. Glow fish: flakes and pellets. They can be brown, yellow and orange. Gold fish: goldfish food, flakes and sometimes the food can be colorful.

Chapter 5 - Tanks and Items You need to get the right sized tank for your fish. You must make sure your fish can move around and you can put items in the tank. The items can vary for different fish. Angel Fish: items to hide and play in. Coy fish: fake seaweed. Goldfish: castles, fake seaweed, and items to play in. Beta fish: items to lay down on. Suckerfish: rocks. Glow fish: items to hide in.

Chapter 6 - How to Clean the Tank There are many types of tanks and they all have something in common, they need to be cleaned. The first step in cleaning your fish’s tank is to take your fish out of the tank. Then, you have to take out the items and wash them with soap and water. Then, you take out the old water in the tank. Next, You have to wash the inside of your tank with soap and water. Next, you pour clean water in the tank. Then, you put the items back in the tank. Lastly, you put the fish back in the tank.

Conclusion Fish are cool pets. They’re colorful and interesting. However, you need the exact amount of everything for your fish. You need to make sure you are feeding the fish what it needs. You need to know the size of tank your fish needs and what to put in the tank. And, most importantly you need to know what fish you want. Now, if you want a fish you know what to do.

Glossary Tank: a house for a fish. Maintenance: how easy/hard something is to take care of. Pet store: a place where you can buy supplies for your pet. Pellets: small spheres. Diet: a way of eating. Personality: how something acts. Clean: wash -or- not dirty. Colorful: lots of colors. Seaweed: a plant that lives in water. Previous: before -or- earlier
