WHY DO MOST UNIVERSITIES USE SOCIAL MEDIA? Social media is used among universities because they want to reach their audience which are young students who haven’t decided where to go. Also they want to enhance the communication among alumni students. Universities also use social media to maintain and engage students and faculty, basically to keep them up to date. Facebook is one of the top social media sites used among universities, it says because they keep students alert of new things; however Youtube and twitter are getting themselves out there too. you tube helps by releasing videos and informing and giving a visual cite of school resources. Twitter helps by tweeting important useful information that involves school activities.

HOW SOCIAL MEDIA IS COMING TO LIFE IN THE REAL WORLD? In this video it shows how with an app people can start meeting each other. For example if a person is looking for a restaurant in another part of the world and they become attractive to them they can easily send them a message saying hey! With the social map app people can now get out of their comfort zone and begin engaging with others. This can lead to many great things such as people becoming more social and seeing and meeting new people without wasting too much money to go around the world.

THE UPSIDE OF SELFIES : SOCIAL MEDIA ISN’T ALL THAT BAD FOR KIDS In the video Social Media isn’t all bad for kids, Kelly Wallace met a family that is involve with social media. The girl is thirteen years old and her mom is very informed of her daily activities. They both have an instagram and her mom feels very comfortable with her having one, not only because she knows social media will never go away because she is being informed of her daughters life. This is a good way for parents to have themselves informed of their children’s life even when it involves using social media. teens-parents/

CONFIDENCE Social Media can be define as a group of share information, ideas, pictures and videos, I believed that the use of social media has helped to build confidence for the users. Through sharing of information and ideas and gets to build personal confidence.

TEENS AND SOCIAL ME DIA When I think about teens and social media, I immediately begin to tally up the negatives. Eilleen Masio, a mom of two in New York, monitors her daughter Amelia’s Instagram account 24/7. Yes most of the posts are “selfies,” but it’s the comments that make her think there is also a positive to this nonstop engagement. “When they post selfies, all the comments I usually see are ‘ You’re beautiful,’ ‘You’re so pretty,’ ‘oh my God, Gorgeous,’” said Masio.

SOCIAL MEDIA IS BEING USED AS A RECRUITMENT TOOL According to the article “Using College Search Media Sites in the Recruiting Mix” by Chris Long states that Social Media is being used as a recruitment tool to colleges. It has helped them identify the student based on the information letting them build a relationship with students. Cappex.com is a site that students are able to fill out a profile detailing their academic accomplishments and interest. The site allows them to match students with colleges that are within the same interest giving students a high percentage that those colleges will accept them. Students can also catch colleges attention based of their interest, extracurricular achievements and academic strengths not just your GPA and test scores. Colleges benefit from this Social Media because instead of starting of with a lot of admissions they are able to reach out with the students they are interested in.

BENEFITING FROM SOCIAL MEDIA In the article “ Top 5 ways your company can benefit form social media” by Katy Stewart says that “ Social media helps enhance all the basic pillars of good business, such as engaging with the public, converting on- the- fence onlookers into revenue-generating clients, and addressing customer issues.” Through social media business are able to engage with the customers introducing their company and reaching out to people with the same interest. They are also able to offer promotions helping their business income to go higher. Social media lets business have a relationship with their clients and are able to communicate with them. By business having accounts on a lot of sites it helps their company be in the page rankings and most likely to be their when they search.

SOCIAL LIFE FOR PATIENTS In the article “Social Networking for Patients” by Claire Cain Miller talks about how Patients new niche is social network. Social Media is allowing people with the same ill connect with someone that can relate to them. Social Media has created sites such as Disaboom, Diabetic Connect, IMedix, Inspire and etc… for patients with the same conditions talk when no one else understands what they are going through. These sites allows them to ask any question they have in mind and videos and blogs show up answering the question they ask. Patients social network can become very important to them because this is their social life they have for not being able to leave home because their condition prohibits them to.
