Kamo - Mobile guide for city traveller xx- xx- VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland

What is KAMO?  KAMO service is a public transport guide for city traveller.  It is meant for regular and casual travellers. It can also be used by tourists not familiar with transportationsystem in a city.  Focus in the KAMO is easy and ubiquitous use of the services. This is madepossible by using physical browsing.  In physical browsing one can use mobileservices by touching tags embedded in the environment.

How KAMO helps travelling?  Before the trip: Guides the user to the right bus stop at the right time  At the stop: The passenger can see the next departures at the bus stop.  While entering the bus: Using a tag activates the service  During the trip: The service follows the route from one bus stop to another  For reqular passengers: Options for interchanges are given in real time

The KAMO service will be implemented in Helsinki for the HKL(Helsinki City Transport) and will be in use in May In addition to the transportation guide KAMO service can be enhanced with multitude of public and commercial services using physical browsing. For example: –bus seats could be equipped with additional tags to provide passengers with latest news, games or weather information. –Also local location based advertisements could be added.
