2004 Tsunami. By, Jacob Louis Abrams Schleider.

What is a tsunami?

When there is a natural disaster under water. Disasters such as earthquakes, landslides and underwater volcano’s.

When did it happen? This disaster happened on December 26, 2004.

What caused the 2004 tsunami? A massive earthquake split the earth in the Indian ocean. This earthquake caused massive shock waves to flood 11 countries.

What was the earthquake on the richter scale? It was a 9.0 earth quake on the ricter scale.

How fast was it? It traveled at about 600 mph. It took the Tsunami 75 minutes to reach land.

What were the waves like? There were 3 waves. The first and second one averaged at about 35 feet. The last one was about half the size at about 15 feet.

Over all death rate. The 2004 Tsunami killed about 275,950 people.

Indonesia and Thailand These two countries got hit the worse. They both had the highest death toll. They both are still rebuilding today.
