MRFA Vision Statement Review Committee

Membership Gerry Cross, MRFA Elaine Mullen, ADC and English Jeremy Berry, Public Relations Jim Fischer, Business Mohammed El Hussein, Nursing Reid Spencer, Theatre, Speech and Music Performance

Current Vision Statement The MRFA is a proud community of dynamic and progressive professionals. Process: In 2001 or 2002, MRFA President Jerre Paquette and Don Watts of the ADC organized a representative group of faculty members and led an exercise based on determining words, phrases or concepts that reflected who we were and who we wanted or expected to become.

Our Process Rather than developing a new vision statement through a survey or some other process, the committee decided to develop one or more draft vision statements and distribute them to the membership for comment ranging from proposed minor revisions to entirely new statements. The Executive would like increasing engagement in the MRFA to be one of the objectives of soliciting feedback and will send the draft statements to Chairs and department communicators with a request that they be discussed at a department meeting.

Draft Statement #1 The MRFA is a collegial community of reflective educators. Our vision is to advocate for the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of the faculty role through the principles of cooperation and collaboration. Our mission is to support and develop the common goals of academic freedom, tenure, diversity and human rights within the university.

Draft Statement #2 The MRFA is a proud community of progressive educators. We advocate for the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of the faculty role through the principles of cooperation and collaboration. Our mission is to support and develop the common goals of academic freedom, tenure, diversity and human rights within the university.

Draft Statement #3 Vision The MRFA is an engaged community of reflective educators. We advocate for the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of the faculty role through the principles of co-operation, collaboration and innovation. Mission Our mission is to support the goals of academic freedom, tenure, diversity and human rights within the university.
