BTeC Engineering  Route A  Occupies 7 periods of the timetable  Drop Technology +1 other non-core subject  Equivalent if successful to 4 GCSE ’ s at A*-C  85-90% success rate in previous years

Course Structure  Modular  9 different units taken over two years  Each unit passed is worth credits  The total number of credits at the end of Year 11 gives final grading  NO EXAMS!

Units  All units based on ‘ real ’ world situations  All very practical  Backed up with photographic and documentary evidence

Activities  All scenarios are based around the pupil working for an engineering company  They will be expected to:  Work safely within a workshop environment  Follow procedures  Interpret engineering information  Identify correct materials for particular jobs  Control manufacturing operations  Produce engineering drawings using CAD
