Primary 2 Meet the Teacher

Primary 2 Mr Nelson Our Expectations Now that the pupils are in Primary 2, we are encouraging them to become more independent and to respect their school environment and belongings. Weekly monitors are chosen to help with this. We expect good behaviour and good manners at all times. We ask the children to try their best at all times, working neatly and quietly.

How you can help To be prepared for school each day, your child should bring: a sharp pencil a rubber reading book & diary a snack a P.E kit (Tuesday, Wednesday) Please make sure you sign your child’s reading record when you listen to them read. Primary 2 Mr Nelson

Weekly spelling should also be completed with the appropriate spelling activity noted in homework jotters. Primary 2 Mr Nelson

In addition to their reading books children will visit the library once a week to pick a library book of their own choice. Maths Maths homework will be set as required and should be returned by the date set in their diary. Other Curricular Areas Occasionally work will be set in other areas if relevant. Children who have chosen not to follow our class rules will lose some of their Free time Friday. Parents / Carers will be made aware of this with a letter home which we ask to be signed. A certificate will be issued at the end of each term to children who have not lost any of their Free time Friday time.

Primary 2 Mr Nelson How can I help my child with their reading?

Primary 2 Mr Nelson How can I help my child with their spelling?

Primary 2 Mr Nelson How can I help my child with their Maths and Numeracy? Count in steps as you walk, count in 2’s, 5’s or 10’s. Give your child coins to practice counting money. Let your child weigh out ingredients for the evening meal or measure objects in the house. Ask simple problems. I have 12 sweets I eat 6 how many left? Play spot the shape where children spot shapes and have to name them. Ask your child the time, use both analogue and digital displays.

If you have any issues or concerns please make an appointment to see us or write a note in your child’s diary. Any Questions? Primary 2 Mr Nelson
