She was the daughter of the sea deities Phorcys and Ceto She had two sisters Stheno and Euryale Medusa was the only mortal of the three

Medusa was once a beautiful woman with many suitors, but was later turned into a woman so ugly that people would turn to stone when looked at and snakes in place of the hair Medusa prided so much by Athena when she offended her by meeting Poseidon in her sacred temple Medusa offended Athena by meeting Poseidon in Athena’s temple

The hero Perseus was instructed by Athena to cut off Medusa’s head in a queat to save his mother He used a polished shield as a mirror to see her without looking at her Even with it detached from her body her head can still turn people who look at it into stone Perseus used her head in combat against others

The blood form her left said can heal anyone/anything The blood from her right side will kill you instantly Athena gave the healer Asclepius both vials he would revive people with the left side or killed by giving them the right side

Pegasus and Chrysaor was born from her head when Perseus cut off her head
