American Studies American Studies Department Report The American Studies Association of Western is in the final stages of ratification and planning for one of the newest student clubs at Western. We are having our first ever AGM next week where we are electing a club executive. It is very exciting because we have multiple people running for positions, showing a strong interest in our new club. The Centre for American Studies presents a special speaker series from former chair of the Political Science Department and current director of the Centre for American Studies, Professor Don Abelson. This talk is entitled, “First Impressions, Second Thoughts: Reflections on the Complex World of American Think Tanks”. The talk will take place on Tuesday February 7 th at 4:30 in SSC We had a very successful Wave social where people from other departments attended as well as multiple professors. We look forward to having more events in the future as the American Studies Association fully takes off! Daniel Bain and Brendan Clements
