Aspire Developed by GPs for GPs Uses MIQUEST to extract data –Can be used on all RFA compliant systems –Extracts comparable data from different practices –Both identifiable and pseudonymised data available Displays the Data in Excel –Shows Charts, Summary Sheets and Data sheets –Can drill down on charts to underlying data

The Home Page

Running an Audit 1.Start on the Left of the home page 2.Select the correct library. 3.Then choose the query. A description of each query can be read. Note the reference date. Usually set to today. 3. Make sure there is a floppy disk in the drive. 4.Click to copy the files. 5.Take the floppy and run it on the practice system.

Viewing the results 1.This time follow instructions on the Right of the home page 2.Put the floppy, with the response file on, back in the A:\ drive 3.Click 3 to view the results 4.Select the response file to open by browsing if there is more than one 5.A Progress bar will display 6.The results will automatically display with pre defined charts, summary and datasheet.

Results There are three formats to look at. –The Summary sheet. This shows a summary of information. This can be calculated from the datasheet. Showing whether targets have been achieved and so on. –The Data Sheet Is a one line per patient spreadsheet. This can be used to identify specific patients. –The Charts A series of pre-programmed charts are available for each audit. These are a simple way to clearly see what is happening. With the added benefit of being able to drill down to the patients beneath each point.

Summary Sheet Note Text Headings Note Ability to show calculated results in different columns

Chart Sheet The charts are pre- programmed and can be easily cycled through or selected from the toolbar. This Chart shows Smoking status. Read codes are automatically converted to useful groupings. Double clicking on a point will display a list of the patients underneath it.

Data Sheet Note one line per patient data. Columns each with show a different factor Comments for each column showing read codes used. Filters for complex analysis of data

Aspire Toolbar Navigation is either via the aspire menu or the toolbar. Selects Home page Archives current response file Cycles up or down the pre- defined charts Charts can be selected from the drop down Show the Datasheet Show the Summary sheet Print Sheet Select from open Databooks
