Alert
WHAT IS IN THE ALERT Principals and/or staff (PA system Operator) must not use Code Words- they do not tell us anything. Give clear and accurate information as possible by using available technology or your senses. Principals must use plain English- bad guy already knows what he is doing, help everyone else know also Information is the key to making good decisions What methods of communication do you have, and how do you use them in emergency situations? Can you use texting if PA system is compromised? Mass texting? Give out information that will answer the vital questions of who, what, when, where and how.

JUST A FEW MORE THINGS… Gang tackle Four people if possible, one on each limb. Bring the person down and control the head Kick the weapon away and put something over it (hide it) First Aid – Control bleeding Contact with Law Enforcement
IMPLEMENTATION “ What information should we convey to our students, and how do we provide it?” You provide it at the time they need it If you can escape you tell them to evacuate and where to go If you cannot escape, you tell them to barricade the door Break a window and escape if possible Have them find counter measures Show them how to bring down the assailant (swarm) Get weapon away from assailant and hide it Call 911
