What’s a mural? A mural is an art piece that is available to the public. Usually it is hung or painted on a wall outside. Murals can be educational, historical, political, religious, or decorative. Artists/community members can be involved during the planning of the theme, the sketching, or the painting.
Questions to ask while looking at the murals Who do you think made the mural? Who is seeing it? What are the main messages that come out of the mural? What images work? Painting styles? What is the medium (paint, spraypaint, glass)? Why do you think the artist(s) chose it? What work is the mural doing?
