Do Now: Freewrite  Respond to the following prompt: list the steps you take when you are trying to locate useful information on the internet for a research project.

Objectives:  The students will be able to evaluate how words and phrases shape the meaning and tone in texts in order to perform research on the internet.

Focus Lesson: Website Eval.  Terminology  Search engine  Search string  Evaluation Domains  Authorship: personal, company, education or gov’t.?  Purpose  Intention to inform: academic  Sale of goods and services: commercial  Bias: can you detect bias in favor of a group or interest? If so, explain.
