How to care for your brain Have plenty of sleep (at least 8 hours). Feed your brain healthy foods. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. Protect your head with the correct safety gear.

Make a model: Brain 1. Brain stem (the innermost part of the brain): Make a short sausage with a small bulge in front. 2. Cerebellum (There are two joined together in the brain. We will show them cut open): Make a sphere with two thin sausages opposite each other. 3. Make a worm shape then curve it around the top part of the brain stem. 4. Make a rainbow shape and curve it around the top of the hippocampus.

5.Roll up a ball shape and put it inside the hippocampus. Ensure there are no gaps left. 6.Cerebrum: This piece is difficult to make. Roll a sausage (not too thick!) and layer it around the outside of the corpus collosum. Ensure that the outside shape looks right. 7.Make an amygdala by moulding an eye shape. Put it in front of the brain stem, below the hippocampus.

SIX Quick Questions 1.What part of the brain is central to LONG TERM MEMORY? 2.What part of the cerebrum is involved in vision? 3.What part of a neuron receives messages? 4.What part of a neuron transmits messages? 5.What is the part of the brain is called “GREY MATTER”? 6.Write the words that go with the acronym SHAC & CFC.
