1 Create a Basic Self Service Layout  Log into the BI Portal with your Berkeley Lab Identity

2 Create a Basic Self Service Layout  Choose whether you are creating a new report layout, or opening and editing an existing layout

3 Create a Basic Self Service Layout  If you are creating a report layout from scratch, choose a data package

4 Create a Basic Self Service Layout  Data Package Definitions: Data PackageDescription Divisional This data package includes a wide variety of measures including; Guidance, Funding, Plan, Costs, Encumbrances & FTE. Data is at the Project/Activity/Resource Group level, but does not go down to the individual employee or purchase order. EX. You would use this package to do a layout of your Division’s “bank balance” Cost Detail This data package includes different types of measures related to Costs, Encumbrances and FTE. It includes more transactional details about individual employees, purchase orders and workorders. EX. You would use this package to do a layout of costs and FTE by employee for your division Planning This data package includes all information from the Planning System down to the Plan Line level. When using this package you need to use filters to identify which ‘Plan Universe’ your layout will show. EX. You would use this package to create a custom sponsor budget report for a proposal PO Summary This package includes PO Header information and employee information by purchasing roles. The measures in this package include PO Costs and Encumbrances including costs from prior years, and Voucher Amounts. PO Detail This package includes PO Header and PO Line information, and also includes employee information by purchasing roles. The measure in this package is the PO Line Amount. Requisition This package includes Requisition Header and Line information with employees and requisition roles. The measures include Requisition Line Amounts.

5 Create a Basic Layout  When you click on a data package it will take you to a layout template  Click on the Insert Data link to open the data box and start adding information to your layout

6 Create a Basic Layout  Add Information to your Report Layout

7 Create a Basic Layout  Add a basic filter to your Layout

8 Create a Basic Layout  Sort your report columns

9 Create a Basic Layout  Create a calculation

10 Create a Basic Layout  Add subtotals

11 Create a Basic Layout  Add a title and save your report

12 Create a Basic Layout  Run and Download your layout to create a report
